Lauren has spent her professional life working in nonprofit development and programming all over the United States as she moved state to state with her husband’s active duty military career, including Habitat for Humanity in Georgia and United Way in North Carolina.

While grant writing was a part of every job she held, grant research, writing and management of awards became her primary role when she started at Urban Corps of San Diego County in April 2018. Lauren is responsible for funding approximately 15% of a 14 million dollar budget every year. Through local, government, corporation, foundation and state grant programs at Urban Corps, Lauren writes 80+ grants a year and manages around 30 grants at a time as a grant office of one.  Since March 2018, Lauren has secured 11.8 million dollars in support (as of January 2023).

While working at Urban Corps, Lauren also oversees marketing and communications employees and all donor management and development activities.

Lauren also created San Diego Gives, a local one-day of giving in San Diego County established in December 2020. In its first year of existence with a volunteer steering committee behind it, San Diego Gives raised almost half a million dollars for over 100 nonprofits. In 2022, San Diego Gives raised $1,088,000 for 327 nonprofits. Lauren was the Director of San Diego Gives for 2021 and 2022 campaign before it was launched as a program of the local nonprofit Impact Cubed.

Additionally, Lauren created and hosts a monthly Grant Roundtable that provides a place for grant professionals to network, share ideas, find collaborative partners and learn from local funders.
